Youngest-ever White House adviser to address APEC CEO Summit 2021

The youngest-ever White House adviser will be part of the line-up of international speakers at the APEC CEO Summit next month. 

Nineteen-year-old Jerome Foster II will be talking about his remarkable journey from campaigning for the climate outside the White House for 58 weeks during the Trump administration, to being appointed to President Biden's Environmental Justice Advisory Council. 
Mr Foster will share his views on why it is important to have young people included in leadership, and how technology is helping to give visibility to the voices of youth. 

He will also explain why leaders should listen to younger voices, and why young people should have the confidence to make change in areas they are passionate about.

Jerome Foster II is the founder of a youth media outlet the Climate Reporter and the executive director of  youth voting advocacy group, OneMillionOfUs, which educates and mobilises young people to register and turn out to vote. 

The fully virtual APEC CEO Summit will be hosted from Auckland, New Zealand, on 11-12 November (NZT) and will be broadcast ‘as live’ to audiences across 21 APEC economies. All of the Summit content will be available for delegates to access, on the platform, for a month after the live event.

Jerome Foster II joins Amal Clooney,  Helen Clark,  Richard EdelmanProfessor Jonathan HaidtDr David SuzukiAmber Mac and Tony Fernandes as keynote speakers at the Summit. More speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

This year’s APEC CEO Summit is a virtual gathering of the world’s most powerful CEOs, business leaders, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, prime ministers and presidents of APEC economies.  Delegates will attend the Summit online as it is hosted using an immersive stage and the latest digital technologies and broadcast from the Aotea Centre in central Auckland on 11 and 12 November 2021 (NZT).

The Future of Energy: clean technology, renewable energy, and energy transition including hydrogen.

The Sustainability Imperative: sustainable growth, climate change, food sustainability and provenance.
