PM hosts CEO Summit launch - see the highlights

10 June 2021

The dates for the APEC CEO Summit 2021 have been unveiled at a business event hosted by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in Auckland this evening.

For the first time ever, the CEO Summit will be a hybrid event, with attendees in Auckland joining virtual participants from around the world in a rolling format over 11 and 12 November (NZ time).

The Summit gives the leaders of companies, from small to multinationals, the chance to engage with leaders from a number of APEC economies.

Prime Minister Ardern told the more than 160 guests at Auckland’s PwC Tower, the APEC CEO Summit is the most influential meeting of business and government in the Asia-Pacific.

In a speech that highlighted how New Zealand will use its chairing of APEC to help combat challenges we face in responding to COVID-19, she said the CEO Summit is an exciting chance for business executives and thought leaders to engage with each other and with APEC Leaders on the pressing issues of the day. She also highlighted the opportunity to showcase New Zealand as a safe, inclusive, digitally creative and easy place to do business.

CEO Summit Chair Barbara Chapman, CNZM, said the event would provide a unique chance for New Zealand.

“The APEC CEO Summit 2021 will deliver keynote speeches and panels by leading global thought leaders, CEOs, and of course will feature the participation of a number of presidents and prime ministers of Asia-Pacific economies.”

She also announced the five APEC CEO Summit 2021 premier partners.

Ms Chapman said each of these partners had stepped up to provide their knowledge, experience and sponsorship support to help the 2021 CEO Summit build a world-class agenda and event.

PwC has retained their long association as Knowledge Partner of the CEO Summit. They are being joined by additional Premier Partners Contact Energy, Fonterra, Microsoft and Westpac NZ.
